Here's some of the common queries we get at Speedypancake. And if you don't get the answers you were looking for here - just get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
The first step is to get in touch & tell us a bit about your project and what you hope to achieve. That might sound a bit daft, you just want a website!
And it's surprising how many new clients don't think further than that. But Websites can serve many purposes: For some, all that's required is what we call a simple "brochure site". Much like a printed brochure, it's full pretty pictures and info about your company, products or services.
For other companies, you might need an actual online sales channel where you sell products directly from the website.
Or your new website can form a vital link in your marketing plan where you are trying to generate new customers and sales leads, so SEO activity and "Calls to action" are needed here.
So we'll have a chat, and help you figure out what you expect the website to do for your business, and the best way to go about it.
Every website needs 2 things: A unique domain name & a website hosting company.
Unlike other Website Design Agencies, Speedypancake don't insist you host your website with us. We specialise in affordable website design and you are free to make your own arrangements to secure the best hosting deals. There are plenty of hosting companies to choose from (some better than others) so just ask us if you want a hand choosing.
If you don't already have a domain name we can point you in the right direction for that too.

Speedypancake are pretty fast at building websites (hence the name).
I think our record is @ 4hrs from nothing to up and running which admittedly was a bit of rush job. More typically we aim to complete the design and development process within 2 to 4 weeks.
Truth is that if it takes longer than this, it's usually down to you (the client) not having your content ready, or having difficulty making decisions. "Organisations" are notorious for having a committee of people who simply must be consulted and agree every detail which can really hold things up and suck the fun and momentum out of any project.
That's why we much prefer to work with small businesses, with just one or two key people who know their business inside out and are as passionate about their products or services as we are here.
We do the design - you supply the content.
Your project will go a lot faster if you have considered the key pages and sections you require, and have your content (words & pictures) ready to go. We can point you in the right direction if you require library stock images, and are happy to tweak your copy if needed.
By the way, I think the record for the longest time taken to complete a website here was around 14 months... It always comes as a surprise when a client tells us they have more to think about than a "Stupid Website" 🙂
First of all we need you tell us a bit about your business. A website for a local legal firm or accountants will normally require a different website design style to an artisan baker or travel agent...
We like to work closely with our clients and encourage you to have as much (or as little) input to the design as you wish. So if you already have some ideas about your site then tell us all about it. Send us links to a few sites that have caught your eye to give us an idea about the sort of design and layout style that appeals to you.
We will then work out a quote and invoice you for a deposit which is normally 50% to get the ball rolling.
Note that your deposit is refundable if you decide to cancel your project for any reason within the first couple of weeks of working with us.
This gives us plenty of time to setup a private development site where we can show you some ideas of how your website might look and function. If this meets with your approval we then work with you over the next few weeks adding your content and tweaking things according to your own feedback and suggestions.
As usual, website design prices vary. But because we keep our overheads low, Speedypancake offer a surprisingly competitive and affordable fixed price fee structure.
We'll have a quick chat first to discuss your requirements and then give you a quote. As a guide, take a look at our Website Portfolio - most of the sites you see there were built within 2 weeks for our standard fixed price offer of just £380.
Some projects deserve a little more design time or require extra functionality which will add a bit to the cost. So we offer an upgraded package of £580 which includes a bit more time and some SEO to help you get found on Google.
We are also pleased to consider more involved digital projects and will give you a competitive quote based on our discounted multi-day rate of £330 per day.
